The roles and duties of the President of the Student Urban Planner’s Organization include, but are most definitely not limited to, the creation and organization of meeting agenda and presentations including time, place, and structure as well as scheduling conflict resolution and cohesive outlook planning. The president must lead each informational meeting that is scheduled as well as several guest lecture meetings that take place throughout the semester. The President, along with other officers and members alike, is in charge of networking with and contacting field professionals with AICP, CNU, and distinguished alumni accreditations to invite them to be a guest lecture during a meeting. The President will coordinate with the Vice President on seeking out and scheduling social events, volunteer activates, and special semester projects throughout the entirety of their term. The President will oversee and have final input and signature on any budgetary change that will occur during their time in office. The President will have the final voice and say in any semester projects in regards to organization, completion, and presentation. It is the role of the President to create a clear and understandable road map for their fellow officers to follow throughout the semester. Finally, it is imperative that the President envisions and plans for the future growth of the professional organization and lays the foundation for the year(s) after their departure from office.

In close coordination with the President, the Vice President will assist in drafting agendas and schedules on all of these events to create a comprehensive semester schedule. In addition, the Vice President will take the place of the President in case of their absence. Many tasks can be delegated to the Vice President, as per request of the President The Vice President will uphold the constitution of the organization as well as enforce and keep tab on membership requirements, statuses, and qualifications.

The main role of the accountant is to control, monitor, and manage the influx and outflow of cash flow in and out of the organization. Along with the President, the Accountant will be the other validated user on the Official Bank Account of The SUPO of TXST. The accountant will be responsible for announcing, collecting, and managing dues payment each semester. The Accountant will review with the President the overall progress / regress of the funds available at all times requested during the semester. The Accountant will be in charge of networking with the TX APA to receive grant funding in the Fall of every new fiscal / academic year. Working in close conjunction with the Fundraising Chair, the Accountant will be in charge of all funds raised during any and all events throughout the tenure of their seating. The Fundraising Chair along with the Accountant will be held accountable for all funds in their respective categories.

A creative and informative bulletin board and meeting flyers falls under the roles of the secretary, working in conjunction with organization members. The secretary will be in charge of maintenance of the Facebook Page, Word-‐Press, and email catalogue as well as meeting sign in sheets and project member listings. The secretary will record all of the information collected from the two semesters in office into the overall Annual Report presented to the Department of Geography at the end of the year.

The main role of the faculty advisor is to observe and maintain the academic integrity of the student organization for which he / she is designated. Working in close conjunction with the President, the faculty advisor could aid in drafting goals and measuring outcomes for the organization as well as assist in administrative duties such as departmental scheduling and university conflicts. The faculty advisor will be an access point to and from department chairs and faculty on the happenings of the student organization as well as promoting the mission, meetings, and events in class lecture, faculty meetings, online media, and newsletters.
